Anthropometric profile of patients with type 2 diabetes using Bauhinia forficata

Abstract

Introduction: Type 2 diabetes is growing alarmingly, and herbal medicines are indicated for use as hypoglycemic. Objectives: To relate the anthropometric indices with the use of herbal Bauhinia forficata in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods: A total of 37 subjects were divided into two groups: intervention (1) and control (2), and followed for eight months. Three checks of anthropometry were carried out. Results: The measures of triceps skinfold thickness (TSF) and complexion height/wrist in significant difference in group 1, and the PCT has increased an average of 21.42 mm to 22.67 (t = - 2.702, p = 0.0205), since there was also an increase in weight and BMI. Complexion height/wrist increased from 9.35 cm to 9.62 cm (t = -2.289, p = 0.0428). Conclusion: The anthropometric assessment, when comparing the three measurements, showed a significant variation in PCT and height/wrist of the participants in group 1; however, when evaluated the two groups this difference was not statistically significant.
