Abstract

Introduction: The movement bilateral upper limb (UL) promotes the reorganization of normal movement throughout the hemisphere contralateral to the lesion and shows up in favorable functional recovery in hemiparesis. Objective: To evaluate the effect of intensive training in the recovery of bilateral UL in individuals with chronic hemiparesis of moderate impairment. Methods: Conducted four evaluations, two pre and two post-training, through upper limb bilateral functional test (TEBIM), Wolf Motor Function Test (WMFT), Motor Activity Log (MAL) and Fugl-Meyer Scale. The bilateral training was conducted in ten sessions over two weeks, with 60 minutes each session. Results: In TEBIM was no improvement in the final performance, unsatisfactory rating to regulate; WMFT change only three tasks; MAL was no change to the quality of the movement. Conclusion: It is believed that a better detection of bilateral upper limb function in hemiparetic be obtained using more sensitive assessment instruments bilateral.
