Background: Elastic tape has been used mainly in musculoskeletal rehabilitation, making studies relevant to the effects of this intervention relevant. Purpose:To analyze the acute effect of the elastic tape on the peak torque and electromyographicamplitude of the rectus femoris muscle. Methods: A cross - sectionalstudy was carried out with a sample composed of eight healthy females, with amean age of 21 years, who underwent a 60 ° / s angular speed and electromyographicevaluation of the rectus femoris muscle before and after the intervention. Results: A pre-intervention torque peak of 112.9 ± 43.38 Nm was demonstratedand after 115.4 ± 39.18 Nm, resulting p = 0.41. The pre-electromyographic amplitudewas 736.3 ± 307.7 μV and after of 721.6 ± 246.8μV and a p = 0.79. Conclusion:The application of the elastic tape did not significantly alter the peak torque andthe electromyographic amplitude of the rectus femoris muscle.Downloads
