Abstract

Ginkgo biloba extract (Egb 761) is well known for its antioxidant property to scavenge free radicals and several studies reported that the antioxidant activity could be used in prevention and therapy of diseases associated with oxidative stress. Besides the effects of Ginkgo biloba as antioxidant and lipoperoxidation inhibitor, it is involved in apoptosis of tumoral cells. Moreover, Ginkgo biloba extracts inhibits angiogenesis by dowregulation of VEGF. Theses dates support the hypotesis of Ginkgo biloba as a potent anticancer agent with good prospects in clinical application.
