Poetry as a way of understanding for students of the elementary school

Abstract

It is normal, in the Portuguese lessons, have a textbook as reference, which has as main topics grammar, text reading, and writing. However, with the textbook, it was introduced a poetry project. In this article, it is presented partial results of a research that has as objective to demonstrate that aesthetic experience in poetry can contribute with the development of students in Portuguese lessons, also improving them as more reflexive and ethical human beings. This research is based on the 80 activity books of poetry of the students. It will be analyzed in these books the exercises and poems of the students, and it will be proved theoretically how poetic and aesthetic experience can contribute with the students, showing the evidences that indicate this ethical and aesthetical development of the students.
