The discipline of Philosophy allows the analysis of the main currents of thought present in schools and in educators’ training. This paper presents concisely some elements to characterize the importance of historical materialism as a procedure for understanding the historical and social processes in their totality. It is essentially a methodological instrument, describing the particular, while contextualizing their relations within the political, economic and social conflicts. The historical materialism is the application of the principles of dialectical materialism to the study of society.Downloads
