Abstract

The return of the Philosophy as a compulsory class in the school curriculum of high school have originated an intense debate about what and how to teach Philosophy in classes of public schools. The lack of didactic material and the difficult of university ideas in reaching the public, especially the young students, constitute an obstacle to teachers. The present study intends to analyze the possibilities and implications of the use of brazilian popular songs as tools for Philosophy classes. For this purpose, we used the contribution of several educators, particularly the group who developed the method of “philosophical experience in the classroom”. We brought some examples of using popular songs like a way of starting the philosophy experience in the classroom. The popular song, used as a resource of sensitization “to prepare” students for these experiences, has a great possibility to bring philosophic questions to the everyday of its listeners. The teacher, which considers these questions, can develop the teaching process by a funny, pleasant, happy way for all the students.
