The focus of this article is to describe a new interdisciplinary field involving education/information and communication/technology that is emerging in the United States. The article examines how politics (especially in the implementation of classroom technology), investment options (especially the involvement of media companies in ducational projects), and pedagogical practices (especially the ioneering projects exploring the use of digital tools) are playing a role in the development of this new field. The evolution of this field is also linked to national defense projects which involve the promotion of good citizenship as a form of social intervention.Downloads
