The crisis and ruptures faced by contemporary university

Abstract

This text aims to identify and discuss the reasons that led the university into crisis and ruptures, particularly the contemporarily. The discussions are based on the following assumptions: a) the never-ending crisis comes from the efforts to adapt and/or adjust to environment demands; b) the survival process has been obtained at a damaging cost of its academic ethos, which is its raison d’être as institution. The consulted bibliography allowed the establishment of some relations between these crisis/ruptures and the absence of a real democratic project associated to an uneven subordination to exogenous interests.
