Abstract

The advertising of the Pedagogical Day “Professor Paulo Freire”, of Centro Universitário Central Paulista (Unicep), carried through in São Carlos (SP), thus personalized the subject of my lecture, in the opening of the event: “The point of view of an Italian-Brazilian concerning Paulo Freire”. Obviously, my look on Paulo Freire and on any subject is inevitably Italian-Brazilian. I have already wrote that I am, in Brazil, a “squint-eyed intellectual”, because I look at the same time, at the reality of Brazil, where I live for 40 years, and at Italy, where I was born and where I lived my first 25 years. If this look imposes to me some limitation, it also improves my analyses, extending experiences and relations.
