Abstract

Because of the increasing emergence of discussions involving environmental management, this study aims to carry out an analysis about which public environmental policies are developed by the municipalities of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the face of the growing political and administrative decentralization that the country has been experiencing. The research is characterized as exploratory descriptive, having used a technique called "concurrent nested" where a smaller method (quantitative) is within a larger analysis (qualitative) because it is a mixed approach. To collect data structured questionnaires were sent to the City Halls of each county in the state, having the same lasted from January 2013 to January 2014. After analyzing the data can be seen that, in terms of environmental coverage policies about selective solid waste collection or sanitation, few municipalities that stand out. However, on support for trade of organic products and events that develop discussions on the subject, the picture was more optimistic, illustrating that most locations have a concern about these incentives.
