This paper intends to contemplate the idea of either homogeneity or heterogeneity from the discourse of the “hygienist movement”. For this the analysis of theoretical discourses and the hygienists' intervention proposals were emphasized. The reached conclusion states that, in the past, there must have been both heterogeneous and diffused mentality among the hygienists, since their proposals ranged from the regulation of marriages between more capable individuals and sterilization to the democratization of health care and education.Downloads
