Social Skills for medical students: training for stress reduction

Objectives: to promote the reduction of stress in medical students through training in social skills and identify the relationship between stress and interpersonal repertoire. Methods: Stress Inventories were used for Adults Lipp and the Del Social Skills Prette and Del Prette, for evaluations before and after the intervention, twelve students of a private institution, a seven sessions program of practical exercises built based on the skills deemed deficient. Results: after the intervention found to reduce stress levels in 58% of participants. Among the cases of stress reduction, there was improvement in general social skills (57%) on the positive feeling expression (87%) and self-aggression (57%). Conclusion: we observed training effects in reducing the stress but as the analysis of the correlation between social skills and stress was not statistically significant further studies should be conducted.Downloads
