Abstract

The thematic focus of this paper is the process of constitution of identity between East and West German youth and young people of foreign origin who were born in Berlin before, during and after the unification. Interviews achieved between 1989 and 1994 were made to analyze the cultural processes of inclusion and exclusion, beyond experiences, dynamics and discursive practices during the moment of the “asylum debate”.

Arim Soares do Bem é Dr. Phil. pelo Instituto de Sociologia da Freie Universitaet Berlin (BRD) e Mestre em Ciências da Comunicação pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo – USP. É Coordenador e Professor do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia e do Curso de Licenciatura em Ciências Sociais do Instituto de Ciências Sociais, bem como Editor da Revista Latitude – Revista do Programa de Mestrado em Sociologia da Universidade Federal de Alagoas – UFAL.
