Abstract

The present text shows an analytical view of the reforms in the Brazilian basic education in the final years of the 20th century, in accordance with one of the utterers in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports (MEC) and Anízio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Research (INEP) of the processes of elaboration, systemization, analysis and disclosure of the results of the Brazilian system evaluation: the historian Sérgio Tiezzi, ex-advisor of the Minister of Education Paulo Renato de Souza, and afterwards, collaborator of the Professor Maria Helena Guimarães de Castro in the articulation of the restructuring, modernization and management of INEP and the implementation of the National High School Examination.
