Abstract

The idea that philosophy and literature are closely related is not new in the European way of thinking. Although novels with “philosophical orientation” may be pointed out if based on Lukács’ perspective, in a sort of awakening from Kant’s sleep of naivety (Lukács, p. 71) – “The novel is the form of mature virility, its author has lost the poet’s radiant youthful faith” – it was the eighteenth century which brought up the most significant philosophical novels.
