Abstract

This paper proposes the Portuguese Language Teaching that prioritizes the use and working of the idiom itself in a determined socio-historical context in opposition to the traditional one which is based in rules and concepts. Under this point of view, the researches about text genres are fundamental if we mean a Teaching that aims to develop among students the communicative competence in several social groups of Language users.
