    It is a pleasure to present you the first number of IJI Journal, the International Journal of Innovation.  As posted in its objectives, IJI Journal comes out as result of joint efforts of researchers, part of distinct research groups on Innovation in Universities around the world.  IJI Journal comes to fill in the gap on academic publication approaching the theory of innovation at large.  IJI Journal stands to bolster scientific research and state-of-the-art knowledge, strategies, models and tools to innovation.  Focused on the frontiers of innovation, IJI Journal brings out the latest theoretical approach of knowledge, strategies to innovate and manage innovation, business models developed or adapted to take the most of innovation and supporting mechanisms, such as Technical Competitive Intelligence and Corporate Entrepreneurship, as means to support/carry out innovation.

    As the management field is practical in nature, essential principles for IJI Journal´s mission involve linking knowledge on innovation to practice.  Approaching inter-disciplinary, multi-functional problem oriented innovation phenomena as well as the implications of innovation on business model and business strengthen through internationalization based on innovation are complementary principles subsidaising our editorial line. Finally, as the name says, IJI Journal is international in scope and intends inclusive and practical, encouraging the sharing of scientific and practical experiences among groups and people from academia, from industry and from consultancy.

    In this first number, we would like to share with you, articles looking at the essentials of innovation in Incubators in India; innovation increasing the speed of processes in healthcare sector in France and semantic parameters to approach innovation network management in Brazil. Additionally, Big Data technologies to support upstream chain of petroleum production and the implications of organizational factors to intrapreneurial competences explore the essence of organizational instruments to innovation.

    We hope IJI Journal will become a new platform to allow you for more opportunities to publish your thoughts and your findings on innovative ideas to the audience most interested into novel knowledge on innovation.
