Samba, Science and other ways of creating worlds

Abstract

This article aims to discuss which worlds Science (capital letter) and university teaching training have built; and also which worlds the other sciences (lowercase letter) and, therefore, other training at the university, have invented; and what possibilities we can create, from the perspective of Good Living. To do this, we started a) from the “História para Ninar Gente Grande” parade by the samba school Estação Primeira da Mangueira, b) from a lecture at a Federal University and c) from (auto)biographical reports with the intention of establishing a relationship with the university education and Science as narratives with the strength of creation and the form of fiction. Methodologically, the text interweaves these three narrative elements and, more than discussing (auto)biography or samba, operates with it. The result is an understanding of how narratives build worlds, whether in sambadromes or universities.
