Society in contrast with sexual diversity at school: the construction of citizen

It is intended, in this work, to discuss the construction of tolerance, having as bases the ideas of integrity, as a way to secure the personal realization, and the authority, as one of the functions of school to guarantee the way to the citizen. In this aspect, the discussion about the sexual diversity becomes essential, mainly, from the instant when it is noted, in the society, the incidence of changes in manner and values, which make people to act in a politically correct way and with a citizen position in their personal relationships. In this context, this study uses, as base to analyze those changes, the book called King & King, written by Linda de Haan and Ster Nijland, published in United States with big repercussion because of its subject about the homosexual marriage, and which causes a series of protests from parents against the school that decided to adopt this book in its curricular structure. It is also intended to extend the analysis to the Brazilian reality.Downloads
