When literature meets anthropology: walking in the streets of Rio de Janeiro with Rubem Fonseca

Abstract

From the approximation and articulation among literature and anthropology, this paper takes as object of analysis Rubem Fonseca’s short story “A arte de andar nas ruas do Rio de Janeiro” [The art of walk in the streets of Rio de Janeiro] (1992) to discuss how the social relations assume complexes and diversified configurations in the urban centrer, transforming the conflict of differences in a constant presence into the metropolis’ daily routine.
