In this text, we discuss about the violence in school as a problem of civilizing process. We understand that school do not become more violent than it was in the past. It happened because the public school extended its access, starting to accept social segments that before were excluded from formal education, so, inserted itself into the environment of violence that devastates the big Brazilian cities. The Brazilian school system became separated in two: the public school, with less quality and spreading for all the big cities` suburbs to include poor kids; and education with quality, the private schools, where the elite’s kids study. It was the transformation of Brazil into “Belíndia”, Belgian for few and Indian for the majority.Downloads
